Badajoz

Badajoz

On their day off from fencing, my husband and friends drove to Badajoz, Spain, which was just 10 miles or so away from Elvas, Portugal. While there, we visited the Badajoz Cathedral and the alcazaba.

We had lunch before seeing the alcazaba, eating at a tapas restaurant that had the best pork dishes ever!

The Alcazaba of Badajoz is an ancient Moorish citadel in Badajoz, Extremadura, western Spain. The alcazaba as it now appears was built by the Almohads in the 12th century, although it was probably existed from the 9th century, when Badajoz was founded.

We took a drink break near the alcazaba where the cutest little boy stopped to talk with us. He told his mom that he wanted to speak English, not stinkin’ Spanish! LOL
