Rattlesnake Ledge
Since having my knees replaced, I have gone on a few hikes and have been able to hike up to five miles. Today, I pushed myself to hike five miles, but with a 1,160 foot elevation gain. It was the hardest thing I have done in a very long time!
The trail was very busy and crowded since it was a gorgeous day. I was glad I started early (8am). About a quarter of the way up, I had to shed my long-sleeved shirt (I wore a tank underneath). It amazed me how many people were hiking the trail without water or a snack for energy. I even saw a couple of girls hiking it in flip flops…Crazy!
The view at the top is a great reward for forcing yourself up such a steep incline. It took nearly two hours to get up it and about 1.5 hours to get back down.
I slept very well that night…I was asleep by 9pm and slept a full 10 hours!
