The McClinchy Mile Hill Climb
I was feeling much better today (thank goodness) and ate a hearty breakfast before heading to Stanwood to ride the McClinchy Mile Hill Climb. I was eager to ride Camano Island since I had never been there.
Everyone talked about the big hill and I was dreading it. I saw a photographer at the bottom of one hill, then stopped at the rest stop past the top of the hill. It turned out “that” was the big hill I was worried about. I think doing some really big hills with Cascade Bicycle Club got me in shape and this particular hill didn’t really bother me.
The route was truly lovely, going past the coast at times and forest at other times.
After the finish, I checked my bike into the valet and sat in the sun on lounge chairs outside a brewery, talking to other riders, and drinking several fizzy waters. After about 30 minutes, food was served. My entry entitled me to two tacos and fries. The food was so delicious! Best tacos I had in awhile!
I spent another hour sitting in the sun, eating and talking before heading back to the parking lot on my bike. I loaded up and headed back to Seattle. It was a great weekend in spite of getting sick yesterday!
